Agathon, you got a new Mac? That doesn't look like the resolution of your 12" Powerbook.
It's not. Although my Powerbook is the networked computer on the desktop called "Agathon" (using Airport to share my ethernet connection) and is currently transferring my music library to the new computer.
I just bought one of the Dual Core Intel Macs. It's supposed to be for work (and I would get a hefty reimbursement if I kept it in my office and submitted the receipt to the varsity).
But after playing with it (and more importantly playing WoW with it) I am going to keep it at home and not seek reimbursement. My computer allowance can go on a sodding Mac Mini for the damn office. This computer is too nice to waste on mere work.
Was an odd day. The first one I got was a dud (first time that's happened to me with any Apple product), but the Apple Store replaced it with a new one immediately, and kept open the help desk for me so that I could test the new one out to my satisfaction to make sure it was OK.

What, is every single Mac user on Apolyton now? Seems like we have more of them than Linux users.
Seems like it, doesn't it? Every one of the 5 people who actually buy Macs apparently has wandered in through the front gate.

Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

Probably more like people are getting fed up of Microsoft's substandard OS and can't be bothered waiting for Longshot.
What are the current marketshare numbers again?

It's called monopoly lock-in. Apple is never going to be a major player in business, but they seem to be doing OK in consumer sales.
Besides... Vista looks like it will be a train wreck... and you will even be able to run it on your Mac if you want to play games, so there is no reason for ordinary users to put up with it for everyday use.
