  • Stupid People

My job is full of stupid people. No, that's not fair; the world is full of stupid people. But right now I'd like to share with you all two particularly stunning examples of just how dumb people can be.

I have here two, short, unrelated emails that were both sent out to all the employees of my little cubicle job. This means that, before these emails were written, the people writing them understood that they had to craft complete and coherent documents that everyone in the office could comprehend.

These emails are unedited except where I removed the names of the guilty parties. The first one was sent out by the receptionist at the front door. The second email was sent by my boss's boss, an old woman who's been in the profession for quite some time and really should know how to put together a proper sentence.

It was reported to Security Services on yesterday, around 6:00PM someone, fome this building was seen throwing a cigarette butt over in the bushes. Their have been several small fires on campus in the past two weeks and we are asking everyone to be mindful of where they discard their cigarette remains.
    And the second one:

Edit: Oh yeah, and I also removed Other High Level Boss's name.

-Other High Level Boss- will be visiting someone in the office today between 2 and 3 she says so
Not that any of you would do anything when -Other High Level Boss- our Vice President in charge of us......
    I just mention it.....
    My oh my.

Anyone else have any interesting bits of stupidity they'd like to share? I'd really like to know that I'm not alone in this.

The first has a number of grammatical and spelling errors, but is nothing to get that riled about... after all, not every email missive is part of a larger dissertation that is to be graded.

However... wtf on the second one? Here's my translation:

I have been informed that Lorizael will be visiting Ming in the office today between 2 and 3.

Do note that Mr. Az is the VP in charge of this division and so, just as I will, do be sure to make yourself useful and busy in that hour.

    Thank you,

    Boss Lady

What is the problem? I can't belive we are still at the same spot and that such a simple task as calculator is not done!
We got you promises =my boss=, that everything is clear and it will take like 3days.
Do you still miss some informations? What is the reason your coders don't understand the formula? It is even included in lv legislation.

Pls come back with the reasons and explanation on how/why things went wrong and what's the reasons for us beeing here (nowhere) with this task.
        Some background:
The guy is talking about a product which was mis-rated because of his employees inability to file proper data on it, once we got the proper ones, it turned out they're not complete, and now we've gotten all the data, done all the coding, there are only a few minor visuality fixes to be done, basically the product is about to be delivered.

He steps in and shows complete lack of any track of what's going on, what's been done and who's responsible for delay.
Actually, the only thing he appears to know is that there's some process called coding, which is by it's essence extremely simple and easy and that this process should result in some calculation tools on his website (whose adress he is only able to remember because it's equal to his company name).

It's my daily life as a Web developer.
I spend 1/3 of my time coding, 1/3 of my time writing replies to stupid questions and the like, and 1/3 of my time being unproductive cause of neural processes referred to as 'stress', 'anger', 'confusion', and trying to have some rest in places like this..

I don't understand the second e-mail there Lorizael.

The first I can see as some one over editting their e-mail into the oblivion of WTF!? My guess, she was trying so hard to disguise the fact that she is ratting on people who throw out their cig butts that she loss on sense of proper grammar.

Me? Being in the manufacturing arena I gots my share, as we have a lot of laborers, mostly middle aged moms and grandmas. Yesterday we had one lady who wanted to spend about $500 and suggested that we add to our washing study an investigation on water hardness and it's relationship to static electricity. Huh? I guess she's been complaining about static build up in the glass room (which is common since it's really dry here) and thinks that adding a water softener will do this.... We canned the idea due to lack of evidence of the chemical/physical phenomena

Actually, I read somewhere, that the working society could be at least 50% more effective if there were at least roughly competent people at the manager and other key positions.

Most of the effort and time involved in work with client is spent on convincing stupid people that your solution is at least sensible.

One could argue that most clients are somewhat adapt at accepting the thought you know things better than them, or at least know what you're talking about.
It's right yes, those people take 10 minutes to explain to, it's the former type who need 10hours and still no guarantees..

I don't mind stupid people...unless they're trying to pass themselves off as smart.

I do mind inconsiderate, rude, pushy, ego-centrical people.
