        Tetanus doesn't live in rust. That's an old wive's tale. Tetanus is generally present in soil.

                Rust doesn't matter. A tiny amount of iron oxide never did anybody any harm.

                If the thing hadn't been in contact with soil or animal waste then you're probably fine.
