  • Poor Sirhan Sirhan

He comes up for a parole hearing tomorrow.

Even if the board recommend parole -- which they won't -- the final decision maker would then be Gov. Arnold.

The scene...Maria comes home to the Govenor's mansion, grabs Arnold by the throat and screams, "You pardoned the @hole who kill my Uncle Bobby?!"

    Ain't gonna happen.

Was Sirhan2 ever on death row? I thought he got life cuz he was so obviously crazy.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

IIRC, he was. The assassination was in '68. It was '73 when the Supremes overturned all the death sentences.

He has the automatic appeal. Big whoop. He'll never breathe free air.

No death row. Just life in prison but even life in prison cases get perodic reviews by the parole board. The governor has to sign off on them though typically if the parole board says let someone go then the governor just signs the forms. Since the Governor's wife's uncle was the murder victim in this case (and likely would have become the US President if he wasn't killed) it is unlikely Arnie will sign the form even if the board recommends release. It would be interesting to see Sirhan Sirhan released by the Husband of his victim's niece though.

Sirhan Sirhan was, in fact, sentenced to death in 1967. California commuted all death sentences to life imprisonment in 1972, one year prior to the SCOTUS decision to do the same.

Yes. For 3 or 4 years. The SCOTUS found that it was unfair, racially biased and had too high a level of error in it as it was being practiced.

What must then have happened was that some state (prolly Texas) rewrote its death penalty law and brought a case to the SCOTUS again. The SCOTUS then found that the new law had enough safeguards in it to prevent the abuses it had seen earlier, so it allowed that law to stand. Other states then did the same.

Sirhan's family seems to be filled with nutty murders. He's Palestinian and supposedly his nephew blew himself up in order to kill some random Jews on the street. Bunch of idiots.
