    old debt

I am fully intending to get all of my money from this guy who owes me some 1000 USD from a car accident, that was totally his fault. I hope it grows 2 fold in the next 3 years, just like it did in the last 3 years.

It's true that credit sounds a bit harder to come by in France. In Canada I had a limit of $5,000 and they didn't even check anything. In France they gave me €500 and they seemed reluctant.

Much harder. We're not a credit country, despite the attempts of some stores to put their customers into debt.

I've have one credit card and it's issued by my credit union. It's a competitive rate and they don't play any nasty games. I pay off my card once a week or so in order to avoid any possibility of paying interest. It's mainly a convenience that costs me nothing. People in the U.S. should take advantage of Credit Unions more, it's not in their interest to screw you, you own the company.

My credit card is from a bank and carries a high interest rate but I frankly don't care since I never pay it. Like Sikander I pay off my credit card regularly-- IN my case its on every payday (biweekly)

Credit cards are a wonderful convenience. I like the fact that I am regularly extended up to 14 days of credit interest free. I could debit the expenses I guess but in some instances that would mean having to delay a purchase until after payday.

Used correctly, there is nothing wrong with credit cards. JUst don't ever accrue any interest

The only time I was called by a debt collector was when I failed to pay my two-dollar credit card bill on time.

I've been in pretty extreme credit card debt. About $20k was the max, after financing some inventory on the card for my small business.

Credit cards are a great convenience, but they take a long time to pay off. Mine took about 10 years.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I'm just over 20k in debt with my credit cards right now. I have the money to pay them off, and will. Though I am pretty much trading a HELOC for card debt. At least the interest is lower and tax deductible.

I'm going to budget better, not move, pay it off little by little and refi when I get close.

I'll probably end up wracking the cards back up

I used to enjoy my job as a debt collector. Laughed my arse off calling the people who blew up at me as if it were my fault they bounced a check.

I have a credit card that I never use tied to my checking account.

If I bounce a check it means I'm $6k overdrawn!

                                Luckily that has never happened.
