- Steve Berry's early works, The Romanov Prophecies and The Amber Room. Similar historical thrillers, pretty well written.
- The Last Templar, by Raymond Khoury. The current hot seller in that genre, people either love it or hate it. More love it, though, on balance.
- Shogun, James Clavell. One of the best historical fiction novels ever, and quite thrilling even if it's not technically a thriller. Also, very long. However, the audio performance is apparently poor...
