Any good editing programs to download for Word?

I am using an ancient OS (98SE) which employs Works (thanks, HP!).
I downloaded a Word 97 viewer to look at some documents I attached to myself in an email from work...but I need to edit said documents and the viewer (aptly named) won't let me...any ideas?

Hi Sneakmeister, Poly is pretty much the same old, same old. We have been getting some old timers back, though, which is a bit surprising.
