  • Best stress relief/anger management technique

I'm looking for advice. I have an easy job, and I love it. But I have been working a lot of overtime. And I've been a little stressed lately.

So what's the best way to deal with stress? And don't say sex. Let's stay with realistic methods of stress management. .

These best two I've found are opposites:

      (1) Physical movement, e.g. a brisk walk.

      (2) Meditation.

I already do some of these things. I exercise before work. But there's nothing I can actually do during work. The problem I have is I push myself too hard. I never take breaks at all. Yes I know, the logical solution is to take breaks. But I just can't do it. I skip lunch often as well. Or when I do eat lunch, I cram it down and get right back to work.

            I'm a workaholic.

All right then. It looks like you need to have an attitude change.

Eat well during the day. Take the time to sit down, eat, and talk to your colleagues. You might even socialize with your hot boss that way.

I have found that a serious and social lunchbreak is an excellent way to feel good at work.

Dis, it saddens me to see you like this.

If you're stressed over working voluntary overtime, that's a bad, bad thing. If you love your gig and it's stressing you, figure out what's changed -- and change it back.

Don't treat the syjmptom. Get to the root, man.

Exercise is the best way to relieve stress. However, exercising before work won't really help that much with stress that occurs during work. Rather do some sort of exercise when you feel stressed. It helps you to vent, keep your mind off of it, and generally makes you feel better, which helps you to relax. When you feel the pressure come on, take a time out and do whatever kind of exercise activity that you can. Maybe consider using some of your lunch break to do some running or something. Of course, this means that you have to give yourself the breaks to do this first.

So if you feel that you must work at all times, consider this: You're more productive, mentally and physically, when you feel relaxed and healthy. You can get more work done, and done better, if you give yourself the breaks needed to relieve the stress that is hindering your perfomance.
