I think you'll find most everyone agrees with that sentiment of MrFun's. I was agreeing with your post until that last line... and that just made me shake my head.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I have no problem with government investigating suspecious activities. I do have a problem with government sticking its nose into our private lives for no good reason. This is kinda the whole basis for the philosphy behind America.

Why? Ignorance is one of the worst problems of a society, where they let a government take liberty after liberty...it's a very slippery slope. Before you know it, you could be a police state...ignoring it and pretending it will all be OK is tantamount to a German being indifferent to the Nazi regime at the time.

when do you ever see 'results' of terrorism or crime prevention?
It's not a physical obvious thing like building a convention center but if prevention works, the crime rates should go down, right?

And we see remarkably low levels of terrorism in Western nations, they are very rare isolated incidents. So why are we constantly claming down on a problem that is, quite frankly, well under control?

No it wasn't. Winston has repeated time and again he has no problem with the government shoving a protoscope up his colon in the name of conservatism. The truth is, Winston probably would have thought that, aside from invading Denmark, the Germans weren't really all that bad. They put the commies in their place, lowered crime, and none of those scruffy foreigners were polluting the Danish genepool.

As for the OP, well Sloww, now that your chickens have come home to roost, maybe you understand now you backed the wrong horse.

Tough to know, but my sense is that different ways of wiring money invite different levels of scrutiny. My paycheck says "Automatic Credit, Fleecem & Suem LLP Payroll" on payments to my account and are scheduled ahead of time with the payroll admin company. Doesn't seem likely to cause scrutiny.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. HS department should hire someone competent to develop better screening algorithms. All their entry-level software screeners are just going to catch wrong guys, cause one PR disaster after another, and miss out the real bad guys among the mountains of false negatives.

There is a reason that "Godwin's Law" came about.

you'd probably lose that bet. it would require equating indifference to being observed by the government to indifference to genocide.

chegitz guevara, if your intention with that ritual twaddling was to once again demonstrate your ignorance of the beliefs I hold, and cause offense to me as a person, you've succeeded beyond any reasonable expectation. Now shut up and go read some more Marxist-Leninist fables if you so desire.

It's funny how to most stark raving commies, every conservative must have fascist tendencies since they oppose Communism so vehemently. Another point where you could benefit from waking up to reality.
