No, they are simply more willing to spend time and money on health problems.

No, what StatsCan says is that men report having been injured at a rate 40% higher than that of women.

That's like those measurements of obesity which rely on self-reporting.

And maybe a lot more willing when they aren't actually spending their money?

            • When you look at it, women are more likely to go without treatment.

              • The conventional wisdom, for what it is worth is that women access health care a lot more under 40 and men over 40.

If you wanted to completely privatize the system NYE, you would find that women would probably be disadvantaged, since they need health care more when they are less able to pay for it.

It has nothing to do with consciousness and everything to do with definition.

Every objective measure shows men being injured at a rate more than twice as high as women. Subjective measures show less disparity.

                      • They know everything I know about it. Which is why they're quite careful to state how their data was arrived at.

You would do well in the future to take that into consideration when quoting numbers

StatsCan knows that self-reporting is subjective. Which is why they put the question right up front.

There's a point, and a good reason not to completely privatise the system. That may be why nobody is saying go totally private.

But of course, you have a men's magazine on your side.

                              I should concede, right?

No, but there's a large number of men walking around with a bad bruise on their knee they aren't calling an injury but which women are.
