General B*llsh*t Television
It originated over at the Something Awful Forums where I have been spending most of my time on the internet these days.
It's open to the public,
It's pretty cool. 24/7 streaming television with a chat window so you can talk about other stuff or the show at hand while watching the same program. Also, you can rate the content so if it's crap it doesn't get shown.
They have a lot of cool shows too, like Mystery Science Theater 3000, Popeye, American and Japanese Pop videos, Casper the friendly ghost, Mighty Mouse, Educational Programs (think Annenberg CPB channel), and a lot more stuff.
I was talking to one of the co-creators, and he said that some people have actually cancelled their cable and sattelite services in favor of GBS tv.
I really like these sort of innovations through the interent. I've discovered a few more which push the boundaries but none which are as cool, or as easy to describe as GBS tv.
This is a very confusing place, but I'm pretty sure it is a twist on the webcomic. I like it, it's worth an ocasional visit. Very odd though.
Also there is the wonderful meta fiction of
This stuff is really cool an mind bending. I like how he screw around with the limits of fiction.
A website designed with the intent of inducing a psychedelic stae without the drugs. Interesting but it gets old kind of fast. Porbably better with the acid than without.
I generally regard this as a site designed to induce the psychedelic experience without drugs. It seems like its aims are sensory overload and general web chicanery. It is last on my list for a reason though.
I forgot about this one. I heard the guy on NPR talking about it. It's in the same vein as Project Gutneberg but it does all media. The ultimate goal is to have something akin to a giant free internet library with everything. It's still in the beginning phases but if they accomplish their ultimate goal it will be a great resource.
So, what Innovations of the Interenet have you found in your e-travels? I'd love to see them.
