    Enron trio

    Three British bankers are wanted by the Americans in connection with the Enron scandal. Thanks to an extradition treaty that is supposed to be aimed at terrorists, they face being carted off to the US, without the Americans having to produce any solid evidence against them.

    The treaty is not reciprocal; Britain can't hoover up American citizens based on suspicion. Nice job, Tony.

      The interesting thing I find about this case is that it was NatWest that was supposedly defrauded, and the fraud was to the benefit of Enron. Yet the case is brought on behalf of Enron shareholders who are claiming to be defrauded. You would think NatWest are the proper plaintiffs.

        Many people were sued for no reason. But those were civil suits, IIRC.

          I'd love to see the treaty be reciprical. Maybe then we could get Bush sent off to face a real court for his crimes.

                  Back in the good ol' days, only a protectorate or a vassal state would sign such a treaty.
