  • Anyone remember that online music store that..

..certain Apolyton posters predicted with absolute certainty would fail, and would be beaten out by competitors such as the now forgotten buymusic.com?

Well, they just sold their billionth song download about half an hour ago.

Discover the innovative world of Apple and shop everything iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and Apple TV, plus explore accessories, entertainment, and expert device support.

Man some people on Apolyton have an absolute knack of predicting the opposite of what will actually happen. Some of them are so daft that they predict Apple's iPod will be marginal in two years and then contribute to the marginalization effort by buying one.

Tis a funny old world right enough...

And what I'm seeing is Apple's profit margins sliding on the iPods, their R&D costs increasing significantly as they push out new models sooner, and analysts cautioning investing in the company. Their stock is trending down, right after you started bragging about their market cap.

Apple's ipod peak will not last, especially now that it's getting real focus from bigger competitors.

As for the iTunes store...1 billion songs is $999M in revenue...over what, two years? That's revenue, profit is more like $1. Not sure what the big deal is. It's a small time market still, and one that is sure to piss people off over time as they deal with buying new computers, getting new MP3 players, etc. and find out they're locked into Apple products when they come home with their shiney new Samsung or Toshiba MP3 player...

Aggie will die before I do, judging from his pictures.

You'd be scared how much that isn't the case.
