  • Movie frenzy at TCM

Man what a weekend, TCM is just piling good movies on top of another. Thankfully I had a whole stack of empty VHS cassettes What do you think of these?

    Shaft
    Soylent Green
    The Petrified Forest
    Angels With Dirty Faces
    Bad Day at Black Rock
The Oklahoma Kid (Bogart and Cagney in the wild west!)
The Three Musketeers (1948 version with Gene Kelly, Lana Turner and Vincent Price!)
    Village of the Damned
    Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo

    Damn it´s a good thing I have a VCR

Thief! How dare you download movies onto tape.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Soylent Green SUUUUUUUUUUCKS. Like, seriously, it blows harder than most movies. What an aaaaaaawful flick.

I thought it was quite nice. Depressing as hell, but a nice 70´s scifi. Much better than Logans Run for example.

The Three Musketeers (1948 version with Gene Kelly, . . .)
Normally, Gene Kelly makes me puke. But he was fantastic in that role...best swordfighting scenes outside of an Errol Flynn movie.

It´s by far the best movie version of the book.

Prob'ly so...but I did like the 3 Musketeers/4 Musketeers version with Whatshisname York and Raquel Welch.

It´s ok, even if I don´t very much care for Michael York. And it´s far better than the Disney version... It would be fun to watch the Douglas Fairbanks version, silent b/w from 1922

Watching a dog puke is better than the Disney version.

True. Disney has a habit of making movies that makes you puke.
