  • You think you know metal?

Some of the best metal bands ever: (No order)

If you like metal and dont know some of these bands.... You must be ashame of yourself.
And if you dont know metal; try some of these bands.

1- All DEATH albums since Human(included).

    - Human(WOW, Finally death metal who was meaning something and was challenging) - Individual Thought Pattern - Symbolic
    - The Sound Of Perseverance {- For an entire year I just listened to this album, with this albums, in 1998, american metal was resurrected.

    2- Cynic - Focus
Progressive death metal mixed with Jazz Fusion. Many member of the bands played on the Death album; Human. That was in the time of the Florida metal explosion(like Death). 1992. Many bands have been inspired by this amazing band.

3- In Flames - The Jester Race
    - The first bands from the Sweden metal waves. Melodic death metal. Some really good songs(like The Jester Race). Was the first band from the Guthenberg sound.

    4- Carcass - Heartwork
    - WOW!!! British metal at his best. This is a heartfelt album about art, instrumentalisation of man, materialism! Albeith Macht Fleish.

5- Megadeth - Wow! now I listen to this band, and I’m asking myself why I was thinking when I was younger to think Metallica was way ahead Megadeth.
    - Rust In Peace - Peace Sells but who’s buying?

6- Metallica – Do I have to talk about this band? They got amazing guitar solo.
All the album before the black album.

7- Suffocation - Technical death metal.
    – Souls to Deny - Pierced From Within

8- Theory in Practice – Have you ever listened to a band and asking to yourself." ****, what’s going on here? "The Armageddon theories will make you ask this. Colonizing the Sun is pretty more easy to listen, but what a great albums. At The Gates mixed with Death.
The Armageddon Theories – Colonizing the sun

9 – Opeth - Is this progressive? Is this Death? A really good band, badly, I find the lyrics are not much good.
    - Still Life -Blackwater park

10: Slayer Do you remember, when you were younger. First time you listened to War Ensemble…Yeah, you remember!!
Raining Blood – Season in the abyss

11: At The Gates – Slaughter of the soul
I like this album, but not so much. I put this album on the list, since I know; this band had a great influence.

    12: Iron Maiden
This band has made so many good and catchy songs!!!

13: Jason Becker. Do you play guitar? Please listen to the sample. (oh yeah, He was a teenager when he composed this album). Badly he got the Lou Gehrig's disease, and he was unable to play guitar. At 21 years old, he was one of the best guitarists over the world.

    - Perpetual Burn

I think my list is pretty over, feel free to add some bands.

    Now some personal choice:

    Extol - Christian Death/Black/Thrash metal.
This band has evolved, from Burial who was a black inspired albums to Synergy, a very technical trash albums (Synergy). A special mention to the lyrics on the synergy albums.
    - Burial - Synergy

    Orphaned Land
Great middle eastern progressive metal bands. Pretty good bands.

    Obliveon: Canadian death metal!
    Nemesis

Edge Of Sanity - Only one song.... 40 minutes... what can I say??
    Crimson

I was making a long list of "essential" CDs, but I was too lazy to describe them in any detail so instead I just make two statements:

    1. Bolt Thrower - Realm of Chaos

    2. Ia iak sakkakh iak sakkakth ia shaxul ia kingu ia cthulu ia azbul ia azabua!

      Rammstein's Reise, Reise

Their newest album Rosenrot is also pretty good, and for those who know German, their lyrics have also improved a bit since the Herzeleid/Sehnsucht era. It's hard to understand that a band this good can actually also be the most internationally successful band from Germany.

Being the obnoxious nitpicker that I am I feel an urge to state that this is not entirely true. IF was a vital part of the early "Gothenburg Sound", but other equally vital parts were Dark Tranquillity and At the Gates.

Dark Tranquillity is IMO the best metal band Sweden has produced. And that says a lot with all the kick ass metal that´s being produced here.

          Other favourite bands (swedish):

          Entombed (death)
          Dark Funeral (black metal)
          Marduk (black metal)
Eternal Autumn (only made one CD unfortunately ) (death/trash)
          Grand Magus (stoner/doom)
          Spiritual Beggars (stoner)

I thought this was going to be about Mittal's planned hostile take-over of Arcelor.

Well I was thinking 'I could tell copper from iron, and I'm sure I'd recognise plenty others like platinum and gold and silver'
