Still, John Maher clones are the love of the industry. If I could buy stock in musicians I'd being buying this guys IPO.

THANK YOU. I meant him, of course, in my post.

and PH is right. some of this stuff is sooooooo bland it's like matchbox 20 decaf. I did like that song by James Blunt though. It's very emasculated and emo, and when I feel like that, it's on the spot.

The next great thing in music will not be from a human but from a computer.

The computer will be able to produce the exact music/song that stirs your emotions the way you like it most.

Yes, it will be artificial and meaningless, but you won't care, because it will overwhelm you whether you like it or not.

Looks like 95% of today music is created by computer...

I've said it million times that I got the Experience album from Prodigy in 1992, the year it was released and it was new and no one had heard about it yet..

I also went to Rasmus concert before they were big, I think it was in... 96? But that's because my gf at the time wanted to go there because a group of her friends were there so I went too because I wanted to get laid that night. And most of you prolly never heard of it but it's pretty known in Europe these days and has regular air on MTV, so I think it counts.
          In da butt.

No, it's not. For a glimpse of what I am talking about:

This is the official VOCALOID site run by Yamaha Corporation. You can purchase the downloadable versions of singing synthesizer software and Voice Banks, such as VOCALOID6. You can also find all of the latest information on VOCALOID here, such as TIPS, tutorials on creating music with VOCALOID, and support information.

You all should stop this inane chit-chat and go listen to the mighty Rolling Stones. It's only rock'n'roll, but I like it.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

Honestly, I'm currently a fan of KT Tunstall.

Oh, and it's John Mayer, not Maher. Mayer.

As far as talent, goes, Japher... what is popular doesn't always entail talent.

Most of what comes out of American Idol isn't talent, but easily marketable, photogenic youth ****e. While I won't say that indie stuff is, by virtue, good (indie anything is a mixed bag: while some is amazing, most of it is crap, no matter the genre--films, music, games...), a lot of the stuff you hear on ClearChannel is heavily produced and artificial.

I won't claim to know this David Powter guy--I haven't heard his stuff. But Pearl Jam, DMB... they've got about as much soul as the synthesized strains of DEV2.0.

(This, admittedly, isn't quite fair. I've no doubt that Pearl Jam and DMB have talented musicians in their ranks; on the other hand, I find the latter to be too... well, the image of pseudo-bohemian college *******s come to mind, whereas for the former, I hear nothing but a horrifyingly grating cover of one of the most reprehensibly retarded songs ever recorded by the Cavaliers. For cryin' out loud, I'll ****ing run you over if you won't shut up about your baby being gone.)
