I've been translating Catullus, and I recently tried to write something myself in hendecasyllabics. It is deathly difficult, and I'm probably just stupid, but I couldn't write a single line. Have any of you ever done this? I'd like to see what you've done.

The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

They sound the same in Latin (even in hendecasyllabics). Smart insects.

Are you sure it wouldn't be "Chirpus?"

Not in any form of Latin that I know...

My Latin level is quite high, though I would never dream of writing poetry myself. Good luck dude, you'll need it.

The worst symptoms I've had were after reading & translating book IV of the Aeneid; whenever I read ordinary prose I caught myself trying to make it scan in hexameter.

                          Markus hodie in Collosseo est.
                          Sed ubi est Cornelia?
                          Marus diu sedet et expectat.
                          Subito videt:
                          Ibi Cornelia stat!
                          Nunc Marcus gauted et vocat.
                          Et Cornelia gaudet et salutat.

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

If you want to talk about the problems of Latin... fine. But posting in another language... not allowed. We shall see how long this thread lasts...
