Ehrm, it's the swedes that have this wet dream, I'm danish, and I seriously doubt we becomes oil-free without nuclear power in one or other kind. At least not without becoming more energy efficient, but we have been on that road for 30 years and there isn't much more to gain. Ask for danish tech if you wan't the best - 90+ % efficiency on power plants :

For electricity, hydro and nuclear power will continue to cover most of our needs. The 10 still operative nuclear power plants have been trimmed to give more total output than the previously 12 did. Alternative energy sources like sun and wind will be increased, but they will continue to be small in comparison. The back-up oil power plants are only used on extremely cold winter days, so that part of the government plan is already close to fulfilled.
For household warming, heat pumps and wood pellets is already taking over from oil and direct electricity. Tax subsidies for conversion will speed up the shift, as if the oil and electricity prices already weren't motivation enough.
The big issue is vehicle fuel. We are importing some ethanol from Brazil, which is cheaper than producing it here, and that import will probably increase in the future. On top of that, domestic production from wood and agricultural sources will increase a lot. And in next few years, the gasoline price might increase to 2 €/litre (due to oil price, taxation or both), while the ethanol price stays at 1€/litre, which will be motivation enough for people to convert. So get your Naomi Klein books and move it or I'll seriously bash your faces in! - Supercitizen to stupid students

1€/litre for Ethanol already sounds expansive, for a subsidised product. But then again, we're talking about Sweden"I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident

Oh, I thought you meant that 100% was doable.
Oups, sorry, it was you getting up to 25 % coverage in some few years I considered doable - though you may have trouble getting windmill - most factories are overstretched .With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. that's EXACTLY the sort of advertising i like to see"The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.
"The most obvious predicition about the future is that it will be mostly like the past" - Alain de Botton
