  • Race-Based Courts

This story is a little old, but I just saw a story about it on the national news the other night.

    Highlights from the article:

Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas assailed a Maricopa County Superior Court program for ethnic minorities as unconstitutional Thursday while announcing that he may pursue a federal lawsuit to stop the "unequal justice."

Thomas described the Spanish DUI court as "reserved for Hispanics" and said the Native American program is "explicitly racial."

"Even at the height of segregation, at the height of Reconstruction and Jim Crow, Southern governments did not establish separate courts for people based on race,"

"Once you open that door, what will come next?" he asked. "An Asian-community court? A Black-community court? Where are we headed with this?"

Thomas said he does not question the motives of those who created ethnicity-based courts, but added, "Whatever the rationale, it is wrong. It is unconstitutional."

Although well intentioned, I think this is a very bad idea.

    Thoughts?
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

It should be ok as long as White people don't start doing it.

Nothing new here. We've had segregated juvenile and adult courts for a century now.

Which is mostly a good thing. Mostly. I would kill to be able to represent a juvie in front of a jury.

Nothing wrong with Spanish speaking courts. English speakers could chose to go in front of one, but I don't think it would be to his advantage.

Anyway, if you read the article, its for post-conviction follow-up.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Well, for one, there are already Italian-American courts. The usual sentences appear to be kneecapping or going for a swim.

There are also Asian-American courts. Punishments usually involve being exiled into the Chinatown ghetto.

                          Or something.

Yeah, this isn't as funny as you think I was.

Does that mean that we could revive the Inquisition for chatolics ? That should improve productivity when every guilty person starts with a confession after a visit in the cellars.

Or what about a little sharia ? I mean, it's just unfair that muslims should be judged after other laws.

Actually, we could save a lot of money on the legal system, since every person easily could fit into the legal domains of one or the other.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
