Well Germany might be hard to beat. And Russia too. The US did really well last time, but they had home advantage.

So I'll be a realist and say the top five nations are going to be:

    1 GER
    2 NOR
    3 RUS
    4 USA
5 could be any of CAN, FRA and ITA. Maybe even FIN

Our Olympic committee has set a goal of finishing third. We have the talent and have been doing well enough in the regular competitions this year to achieve that goal, but Canada has a history of coming up short in the Olympics. We'll have to wait and see.....

if you guys learnt how to ski you would pwn the games

I mean, the reason Germany, Norway and Russia have been getting so many medals are because they have a lot of talented skiers..

edit: make that just Norway. I guess Germany and Russia have lots of other good athletes too, like figure skaters and bobsleighers and such

Yeah, last time the judges stole Sorsa from medal in half pipe, and this is what everyone else thinks too. It was utter BS it was. Even the medal winners were like what just happened, this is not cool.

          Kassi, oh you're right, combined!

So here is how we will score:

nordic combined 1 gold, and from team competition (do they have that???) 1 silver.

Women's cross country team will take one from the team competition, make it 1 silver.

Hockey guys will fail, sorry. Hockey gals will win 1 bronze medal.

Palander will take silver in alpine, some of them. 1 silver that is, unfortunately last years world champ Poutiainen will fail.

Moguls, we take two medals, 1 gold, 1 bronze.

half pipe, 2 medals, 1 gold, 1 bronze.

Ski jump will give us 3 medals, 1 gold, 1 silver and from team competition 1 gold more. This is already settled.

          Plus on surprise medalist:

          count Gold: 5 Silver: 4 Bronze: 3

Anything less will be national disaster.

Our skiers have actually been doing quite well this year. Plus we're always a threat in freestyle skiing.

True, true. I was thinking cross-country and biathlon skiers. North America has surprisingly few of those.

But you did actually get more medals than Russia in Salt Lake City.

Are you referring to the Russians who doped up?

Maybe he means the Russian mafia trying to fix the figure skating. I guess it's a national shame in Russia that they weren't more successful.

Lots of competitors are getting worked up about the quality of the athletes' village (I thought that was part of the Olympic challenge though), and so Bode Miller is staying in a caravan.

Watch out for the croatian bobsleigh team... Especially if you actually go to Turin.

...I mean really, watch out, cause they may go flying into the crowd...

Uh, where shall I start with our champions?
                                It's just too much.
Walchhofer, Strobel or Rahlves will win the downhill,
Hermann Maier will win the Super-G,
                                Benni Raich the giant slalom.
In slalom it's debatable whether Raich or Rocca will win.
Combination goes to Aamodt, Raich or Miller.
Beside combination, I doubt that Miller will get very far this time.

With women, it's much more difficult to predict. Kostelic and Person may win just everything, but the Austrians have competitive athletes in all disciplines: Dorfmeister, Götschl, Meissnitzer in speed, Hosp, Schild and Zettel in technical disciplines. But I count more on a gold medal in speed disciplines here.

"Let me break this down for you, fresh from algebra II. A 95% chance to win 5 times means a (95*5) chance to win = 475% chance to win." Wiglaf, Court jester or hayseed, you judge.
