I think of that every time see another valium addicted Korean housewife, the ubiquitous "Ajumah", try to go up the down escalator or in through the out door of a building, or through a metal detector backwards.
I saw one on the subway the other day. It was clearly announced in English and Korean "the doors will open on your right." She of course turned left and for about 30 seconds couldn't work out why a. the doors didn't open and b. why she was staring at a darkened subway wall.
This is quite normal in Seoul.
