As many as four in ten benefit cheats in one region of France are British

ABOUT 60 Britons living in the Dordogne region of France have been claiming unemployment benefit illegally and must pay back thousands of euros obtained through false pretences, local authorities claimed yesterday.

Yeah, they were probably Albanians who originally came to Britain, got given citizenship based on bogus asylum claims, then headed to France after leaching this county dry. Yup, that's the only way I can think of to keep my little Englander mentality intact. Foreigners

What a storm in a tea cup. 60 frigging people falsely claimed unemployment benifets over what period of time? 1 year? 10 years? 100 years? Also that means the Dordogne region only had 150 people to falsely claim unemployment benifets during the period in question. If they only have 150 unemployment cheats then they're not having any problems worth mentioning; I'm sure the city of LA gets more then that on any given day.

The Dordogne, which has more British residents than any département apart from the Paris region, is enforcing a government ruling, made last year, that barred EU citizens from claiming the RMI if they were not established French residents. In order to qualify, the EU citizens must have sufficient resources to live and be covered by French or their national social security.

All those who received the RMI without justification must repay at least the last full year’s amount.

The RMI is paid to people with no other source of income.
The phrase "Catch 22" almost comes to mind. What about people who have no source of income at all?
