          That would mean I would've had to have had it in the mornings. Except for first semester freshman year, I have had few classes before noon and no classes before 10.

                        That, and they haven't been independent as state/nation for 600 years. It was dear Benito Mussolini who helped create Vatican City as we know it today. IIRC the Papal states ceased to exist after Garibaldi united Italy in the 19th century.

                              I also recall the opening scenes of "The Agony and the Ecstacy" where the Pope (Rex Harrison) in armor is riding around on horseback, swining his sword and wreaking havoc among enemy soldiers, chopping them down mercilessly. Hollywood movies have been proven to be completely historically accurate.
