And the media is dead silent. As far as I have been able to find, not a puff of follow up since December the 9th.

The US Air Marshalls who shot a bi-poler passenger in early December.

Every passenger interviewed denied that he had mentioned a bomb.

Every authority statement stated that he claimed he had a bomb, often with words to the effect that "he yelled 'I have a bomb!' as he ran up the aisle."

There has been no follow-up in the media. They reported on the 8th and 9th that an autopsy was being performed. Since then, nothing.

Air Marshall's can shoot a fleeing, unarmed man, lie about the circumstances, and there is no investigation?

There are a whole lotta assumptions in your post, TMV. That being said, I'd like to see some followup.

Surely the autopsy results are not secret to the man's family. Second, what use would they be, exactly? The key questions are: did he claim to have a bomb, exactly how was he acting w/regard to the marshall just before he was shot, and what was the marshall doing (was he properly trying to get the man to "stand down" or was he just trigger-happy). I don't know if those questions will ever be answered, and I'm *sure* they will never be answered to YOUR satisfaction.

Well, that's almost true nevertheless. Many cops don't see much action at all in their careers, and they do appreciate the occasional car chase. But I wouldn't go as far as saying that they kill for enjoyment.

I remember a study aired on TV a while ago that said the average cop in Montreal draws his firearm twice in a career.

Just like in any other profession, some cops are the nicest, friendliest people you could meet, but some others are total jerks.

The reason we see the jerk cops more often in the news is they usually make a life or death difference (as opposed to the Marketing Team Leader, who might be a jerk but all it results in is his coworkers hating him.)
