Recommend me some Anime

And I don't mean stupid ****. So far I have watched Samurai Shamploo, Ghost in the shell (sort of), Full Metal Alchemist, and Ruroni Kenshin. My two favorites are Naruto and Bleach (in japanese) and I really want to find more shows like Naruto and Bleach because 99% of anime doesn't interest me. Is this all there is or do you guys know of some others? TIA

Dragonball Z is ****, half the time two guys are just standing around, powering up by putting fists in the air and going "auuggggghhhhh" while animation is looped and/or recycled.

Run a search for the "Anime Apolyton" threads, they appear every couple months or so.

I've seen some DBZ and it was good at first but it had no real substance to it. I would say shows like Bleach and Naruto are DBZ's with a real plot and alot of depth. That's really what I'm interested in. Shows like Ghost in the shell are good time killers, but I dont' really watch it because I like it. I wish all shows were like Bleach and Naruto.

Almost forgot Trigun and Outlaw Star, those were good too.

Well, your tastes are pretty different from mine, but I can offer some suggestions.

From your list, another good one to check out is Hunter X Hunter. Both the shows you list are firmly in the shounen action genre, and Hunter X Hunter is the best of the genre that I've seen. It's set in a world with a profession called "Hunter", which is kind of like Indiana Jones or Laura Croft, only more so. Gon, raised by his aunt, sets out to become a Hunter after finding out that his father isn't dead, like he's been told, but is a Hunter. The series starts with him going off to take the Hunter exam, which is a rather intense practical exam.
The show features some great characters, good fight scenes, and has some of the best villians ever (Hisoka is just so much fun). Not currently available in the US, but neither is Bleach, so you shouldn't have any problems there.

You might also consider One Piece. Skip the version they show on Cartoon Network, as it's a complete hack job. The original has some fun characters and good comedy. It's definitely in the comedic side, but the fights can be very fun; the main character's power allows him to stretch his body like rubber, and another fights with a three-sword style (one in each hand and one in his mouth).

You should also consider Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm less familiar with this one, but it's the same creator as Hunter X Hunter.

I didn't like that one, but it's a good chance that it'd be right up StarLightDeath's alley. It should start the US release soon, but I don't know the date off-hand.

Completely (well, almost) unrelated news, but it looks like the Crest of the Stars novels have been licensed. No release date yet, but it's pretty clear they'll get translated. And it sounds like there's a bidding war going on over the Twelve Kingdoms novels, which is also excellent news. I was going to bump the Anime Apolyton thread for this, but posting here works as well, I suppose.

Thanks. I've heard of Hunter X Hunter but it didn't really interest me. I'll go ahead and give it a try though. Never herad of My Hime but I'll try that too. Watched One Piece some but it is too cartoony.

It starts on the slow side of what you're looking for, but things pick up fast once they get to the Hunter Exam. And the York Shin Auction storyarc is simply fantastic.

Not quite sure how to describe it (it may also be listed under Mai Hime; I've seen both used, but I'm not sure which is on the official. The title is a pretty lame multilingual pun).

The AnimeNfo description goes:

Fuka Gakue is a unified school from primary through senior high school. In Fuka Gakuen, there was a rumor that a mysterious monster appeared, and that the only counter measures for the monster were girls called "HiME". They have abilities of HiME (Highly-advanced Materializing Equipment).

Mai was a transferred and she didn't know the rumor. However, she was suddenly told her she had the power of a HiME. After facing a few problems, she learns to live her life as a HiME.

Fair enough, but I found that to be part of the fun. I like comedies to not take themselves seriously ^_^

It's not strictly shounen action, but yeah, that could work. One of of my favorite series. I definitely recommend the manga, as well, since there's a lot more story there.

This anime covers only one story arc, the Band of the Hawk arc. This is set in a medieval Europe type setting, only with a touch of the supernatural, and follows the adventures of a famous mercenary band through a major war.

My Hime sounds like sailor moon. I hate manga because it's in black and white and I've never been a fan of comics. In fact I hate comics.

Also, Battle Angel Alita is a great manga. I have to assume there's an Anime of it somewhere. Not so of Blade of the Immortal, as far as I can tell, sadly. But that's also a great manga, if you can wrap your head around black and white
