Heard the Westwood One radio call of some key 4th qtr action (was in the car early so I can watch the Bears late). First, the "no call" when Indy jumped offside on 4 and 1 -- Trumpy was beside himself, said "anything but replay the down -- something has to be called.
Then came the overturn on Polamalu's INT. The announcers were LIVID! They said Dungy's red flag was sheer desperation, no chance it would be overturned. When it was, the said, "Well that's it for this officiating crew. no way they're getting to the Super Bowl. They've choked on two key calls in the 4th quarter, and the league will be very unhappy about this."
Nice to see justice prevailed in the end...

While I agree with you about the Polamalu interception, if anything, the refs screwed up in Pittsburgh's favor on the fourth-and-1 call (replays showed that as the Indy D-line was saying, Faneca false-started). But I agree that it would have been an injustice for the Steelers to lose that game, both considering how they played and the risks Cowher took. (Going for it on fourth-and-1 twice, on the same drive, with an 11-point lead? That takes guts!)CGN | a bunch of incoherent nonsense

The refs didn't call offsides because they knew they missed a false start (Faneca). I can see where the refs were coming from with the Polamalu INT too. He didn't complete a football move (i.e. getting up), because his right knee was down as he fumbled. No possession, no INT, no fumble.Comment
