Jesus was a man who claimed to be the Son of God. Not difficult to believe at all.

"You say that I am" Lyrics from "Jesus Christ Superstar"
Any educated person in any culture believes that Jesus was a historical person with a decent philosophy, but only a part of the Western World believes he was the Son of God.
Just because you don't belive he was the Son of God doesn't disqualify him as one of the greatests prophets ever.

I'm an atheist, and I try to live with the values typical of Jesus (mostly, the golden rule). What does that make me?
Typical Commie claim: "Jesus was the first socialist"!
And if you make an analysis of it, they are not completely wrong.

Only some loony history revisionists would deny that Jesus existed
Oh? No eye-witness accounts, no Roman records mentioning the guy, no physical evidence? Only hearsay stories from at least decades afterwards?
Looks to me those loony history revisionists may have a point. It's the people that take Jesus' historical excistence for granted without a single piece of evidence that look suspicious to me.
No matter what CyberShy's professor may or may not believe.
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
Once again...
There's rather a bunch of entirely sane and well-informed people who don't think Jesus ever existed. I think they're wrong but I know they're not loons.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

The 4 gospels were all written by people who claimed to have met him in person, by being his desciples. And the 4 gospels that were chosen for the Bible were just a few of the total number. You can claim that the gospels included and excluded in the Bible are biased in one direction or another, but all the gospels claim that Jesus was a true historical person.
Has anyone ever doubted the existance of Muhammed, Confusius or Buddha? How could a world religion be founded by a prophet that never existed? Religions don't pop up out of nowhere, they start in the mind of one person, the prophet himself.

I've run across otherwise rational people who don't believe Muhammad ever existed.

Well, not necessarily - Hinduism certainly, and Judaism most probably, did not originate with any one prophet.

I'm certain they were both originally created by a single unnamed prophet, alternatively by a "prophet discussion seminar", but are too old to have any written records proving it. Both were then developed further by a long line of prophets (Judaism certainly was, according to the old testament).

What about Abraham and all the other guys? And Abraham was not the first to meet the Jehovah either. According to the Old Testament, Adam was, but he was not exactly a prophet, was he?
So some unnamed prophet(s) created Judaism, claimed Adam was the first man and then Abraham was the first named prophet to develop Judaism further. At least if you are a scientist who don't take the Bible literally, actually believing mankind is only 6000 years old.
(Though I haven't checked my Bible to check if I recall right on this).

How does that support the argument that Christianity is somehow unique with no actual person or people starting it? I doubt these were started by a group of "prophets" but it hardly shows religion starting up without an author or authors.
