Need help finding a song.

My wife heard a song on the radio and wants to know the title and band. I obviously have no clue, so I thought I would give this a try.

It's about a guy who loves his motorcycle (she thought a British motorcycle manufacturer that was famous during WW2) He loves his motorcycle more than anything else, even his girlfriend

This guy is in a hospital, and gives the keys to his red headed girl friend just before he dies... and she takes the keys and drives off at the end of the song...
