This is why we should just drill Gabrielle Anwar and be done with it...

ON drilling there I have mixed feelings-- I know that exploration drilling can have a minimal footprint when done in the winter with proper conservation methods. The problem is if you actually find something . . . Then we are talking pipelines, roads, many many trucks etc etc.

One of the larger relatively unspoiled places on earth will be despoiled .

The reality may be that there is a lot more or less oil than is projected so I guess only time will tell

There's no getting it over with quickly-- It will take years and years of drilling to determine what if anything is up there and this can only come about after some modern seismic is performed.

I believe lake bottom dynamiting is currently the preferred method

I'm confused. Has the Alaska Pipeline led to somesort of massive enviromental devestation I'm unaware of?

But it will decrease Duluth's health rating and per/turn gold income.

I'm just curious where ZOMFG THINK OF THE CARIBOU comes from when we have examples of oil projects that don't seem to have destroyed the Alaskan wilderness. The pipeline analogy was just a convenient example. I could just as easily asked about projects in Alberta.

ANWR is an very important birthing area for the caribou, that's why it is more important than other areas. Caribou tend to stay away from oil instalations, so puting them in ANWAR will mess up the caribou population.
