Well, mainly because of its proximity to Christmas, but Iraqis went to the polls today and it looks like the Sunnis are making an effort to be part of the new Iraq. A Sunni boycott would spell disaster as the makings of a civil war would be the likely result, but it appears Sunnis went to the polls in large numbers.
Now it will be up to the Shia and Kurds - do they use this opportunity to create a tyrannical government to get revenge on Sunnis? Or will they bury the hatchet so to speak and commit to a "freer" Iraq? Do they want their children to die fighting their war?
Anyway, Happy Birthday Iraq, you are 0 years old. May you live long and prosper... \\//
