Which is what makes it, and other places like it, suck more than any real city or small town.

Suburbia is awesome. All the benefits of a city without any of the problems.

The DC metro area has 4.3 million people, a seventh or eight of your entire country. DC proper has a population density 4 times that of Ottawa.

          Metro areas aren't cities.

The Toronto metro area has over 5 million people, IIRC.

Virginia is not equal to Canada at all. The Quebec City to Windsor corridor is one of the largest and most dense urban conglomerations in the world.

And it's more than just a "statistical census region"; the entire region is completely focused on DC.
            Which is not in Virginia.

Southern Ontario alone has double your entire state's population.

And California has more than your country's entire population. Deal with the fact that you guys are small.

Canada is bigger than the US.

I'm talking about Calgary and Ottowa.

You really don't want to compare Washington DC and Calgary.

Calgary puts DC to shame in every category except total population. And given the population of DC -- politicians and other forms of criminals -- that's not in your favour.

California is irrelevant to this discussion. You brought in a US-Canada comparison all on your own.

It seems the "inferiority complex" has been curiously reversed.

                            No.

US land area: 1,9616,088 square km
Canada land area: 9,984,670 square km

                              DC's tech sector > Calgary's

Ottawa is a much prettier capital than DC.
