We could bring back Flag Day for June. We need some for March (National Dissent Day, honoring the anniversary of the Boston Massacre?), April (Jefferson's Birthday? End of the Civil War?), and August (National Innovation Day?; Edison invented the phonograph and patented the kinetescope in August).

    More holidays!
Frankly, I'd be more in favor of 30 holidays per month.

But I do really love having a National Invention Day, celegrating Edison's invention of the phonograph and patenting of the kinetescope, etc. The US needs to emphasize its tradition of innovation.

This war could be ended quickly if all use "Happy Whatever" or "Happy Banana" from now on

O'Reilly and Fox didn't communicate too well leading up to this "War on Christmas" (isn't it a bit fascistic how everything is a war?). O'Reilly launched this "news" before the people at Fox and his own staff apparently could change ads etc. A couple days after O'Reilly started his newest crusade against a largely fictional enemy, Keith Olberman had his people examine his website and found "happy Holidays" used extensively, not merry Christmas. Olberman went public and the next day O'Reilly had his people change the site. Now Fox has started mixing Merry Christmas with happy holidays.

I did not actually call House members "fu.ckers" - it' just the electronic nanny that made it look that way.

Link to the resolution, for any who want it (yeah, I'm bored today):

The best part, for me, is this:

                IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

                December 6, 2005

Mrs. JO ANN DAVIS of Virginia (for herself, Mr. BARTLETT of Maryland, Mr. GOODE, and Mr. JONES of North Carolina) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Government Reform
The Committee on Government Reform... yeah, they sure seem like they're takin' THEIR job seriously!

You live in an officially Christian country. We don't. Our government is prohibited from doing such things, by law. So yeah, when our government breaks the law, some of us get a little upset.

Noooo, the Jungian symbolism is just a bit too much.
