    Amish Casinos?!?

    Plans were just announced to open a casino in Lancaster, the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country and my hometown.

    Boggles the mind. What is a city of 50,000 going to do with 5000 slot machines? Not to mention all of the trouble that comes with it.

    Amish like to earn money too, which is why some of them are so eager to flog things like the 'I love Intercourse' fridge magnet I bought in the aforementioned town...

    I remember getting this disapproving look from the shopkeeper as I bought it and couldn't help think what a hyprocrite he was...
    Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

                  There is also a Virginville, PA not too far from there.


                  I read an article in Time the other day about the Amish, apparently they are considering endorsing cell phones amazingly enough. Don't ask me how buttons are outlawed but cell phones are under consideration, but the explanation given was that they weren't allowed to "tie their homes to the outside world". So apparently a phone booth in the backyard is somehow ok, but not a phone in the house. And a cell phone without wires might be ok.

                  They couldn't plug it in to charge it, but I guess they are pretty good at jury rigging car batteries.
