I'm not trying to trash the Conservatives. In fact, I think Harper's doing a much better job this time around. He's running a truly national campaign, which might be a first since the days of Mulroney. What I am doing is saying that history can hurt you, and that words flung around in the mid 90s will stay engrained in people's minds.

I said I thought Ontarians might be thinking of the results of a federal government with no support in a province about to revisit the neverendum. I have the same concern, in the back of my mind. It has **** all to do with what the people of Quebec think, and more to do with the power of the federal government to have any influence in the campaign.
And I said nothing about Quebec playing ball, or not.(\__/)

That you would think that Alberta should have **** all to do with this campaign as an issue is beyond the pale, but is consistent with more of the same old crap.(\__/)

Speaking of Alberta...
Message:
"Alberta can blow me"
That is what the PMO's Scott Reid on Oct. 25th told Don Martin of the Calgary Herald newspaper when asked if Don Martin could interview Paul Martin.
What is this arrogant a** doing in the PMO? Now with his stupid "beer and popcorn" comment and his cowardly apology by email instead of in person. On CTV's Question Period yesterday, the Conservative rep directly asked Reid whether he stood by his "beer and popcorn" comment and Reid said he did. Later in the afternoon, Reid sent an email around apologizing for that comment. Like a typical Liberal, shoot your mouth off in public and then apologize later by hiding behind an email.
Reid's arrogant attitude towards all Canadian parents (as his comment should rightly been seen as) and his comment towards Alberta, just you the lack of class that is working for us Canadians and being paid for by us Canadians in the Liberal PMO.
Even CBC Radio in Calgary this morning reported Reid's "blow" comments and it was reported by both CTV News and the Ottawa Citizen. Will never hear about it on the CBC though
Where's this on the RADAR of the networks?
You'd think such a comment would garner some coverage.(\__/)

The problem NYE is that many voters are cynical and assume all politicians are corrupt. So if the Conservatives say "don't vote for the Liberals because they're corrupt", these voter assume the Conservatives are corrupt too. I don't agree with this thinking, but it's a reality.
What people are looking at as well is a booming economy and the government running a $12 billion surplus. When times are good, people are less likely to see a need for change.
On foreign policy, I'd say most Canadians have no major problems with what the Liberals are doing. And on domestic issues, things are pretty quiet, except for possibly the gay marriage issue. But people who traditionally vote Liberals tend to favor gay marriages.
I'd say that's why the Liberals continue to draw voters.Golfing since 67

I agree about the cynicism. I have heard too many express it to dismiss that.
However, I think it would be a very sad statement on the state of this nation, Canada, if criminal behaviour by the ruling party gets rewarded with yet another term in office by the electorate. And then we can start to talk about the arrogance of the ruling class who think that they know better than parents how to raise our children.
I would prefer a federal NDP government to the national disgrace that so many seem to be so relaxed about the prospect of happening.(\__/)

I'd rather see a conservative government than the Liberals back in power. But I'd much rather see the NDP holding power.Golfing since 67

Oh, and mentioned in Calgary is hardly the registration on the political richter scale that one would expect from such disgraceful behaviour by a public servant of the federal government.(\__/)
