Yes, but during that time he assisted LBJ in selling the escallation to the Congress and the American people, as the link shows. He continued his support for the war as a Senator until his entry into the Presidential race, after McCarthy had already shown that only an anti-war Democrat could win the nomination.Originally posted by Winston
