    This is misleading. Robert F. Kennedy was Attorney General under Pres. Johnson for 14 months, until January 1965, beyond which he served as a U.S. Senator.

      Yes, but during that time he assisted LBJ in selling the escallation to the Congress and the American people, as the link shows. He continued his support for the war as a Senator until his entry into the Presidential race, after McCarthy had already shown that only an anti-war Democrat could win the nomination.

          "sigh" I wore one of McCarthy's buttons throughout 1968. I was vastly outnumbered in my high school by kids wearing George Wallace buttons.
