The guantlet has been thrown down!
A few nights ago O'Reilly ran a year old joke from Jon Stewart's "Daily Show" that went like this: while millions of Christians are taking the day off in celebration of Jesus, the rest of us will spend the day pondering the separation of church and state.
O'Reilly used this clip as part of his "War on Christmas" campaign and apparently referred to Comedy Central as Godless or something to that effect. So on his show Jon Stewart "asked" an absent O'Reilly if he wants a war then he'll accomodate him.
I kinda saw this coming. I've been waiting for some GOP bigshot in the media to do battle with the Daily Show. The "mainstream" right is afraid of Stewart because he's quite effective at making people look foolish... well...they mostly make themselves look foolish and Stewart is there to capitalise on them. But O'Reilly's effective too, so will a battle ensue? I figure the Daily Show will continue taking jabs at O'Reilly, so will O'Reilly counter-attack en force? Or will he leave the battlefield to lick his wounds.

Newsflash!!!!
Tonight Bill O'Reilly and Newt Gingrich see the light!
With the disclosure of which European countries had secret CIA prisons by American media, other countries will be reluctant to help us - Al Qaeda may target them. This is what Bill and Newt said tonight... They effectively justified countries choosing to distance themselves from the US, O'Reilly even said their leaders are responsible for their citizens first and foremost.
But when Spain got attacked for helping us and the government change resulted in Spain's withdrawal, the Spanish were called cowards, etc. The French has drawn the ire of the right (and a Bill O'Reilly led boycott) for trying to stay out of it. Of course, this all was damn obvious to most people who are engaged in politics (or common sense), but O'Reilly et al seemed oblivious to the fact the countries choosing to stay out of this war had a good reason.
Anyway, I'm hoping Bill doesn't back down. I like both shows and it would be cool to see a war. Methinks Bill has too many skeletons to escalate this.
