  • Vive L'empereur.

200th Anniversary of the Battle of Austerlitz

200 years ago Napoleon defeated Reactionary European Monarchs, thus paving the way of the spread of reason, Napoleonic Law, and the modern ideals that we enjoy today.

200 years ago, the modern world began.

    VIVE L'EMPEREUR!

Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Having been denied the real prize, Nappy turned his attention to nations he actually stood a chance of beating.

He managed to keep it up for eight years before the rats brought him down by sheer weight of numbers, and the innate sense of Frenchness once again gripped the souls of le Grande Armee.

Still, cudos to Nappy for spreading civilization to the Germans.

This thread should be in french.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

The battle of Austerlitz has no historical importance whatsoever, since it doesn't allow us to gloat against the Brits

Damn straight! And nothing that happened since has done that either.

Well, at least there are events that show the Rosbif innate evil, and thus they are historically noteworthy. I'm obviously thinking of the retreat of Dunkirk, and of the treason of Mers El Kebir.

Otherwise, I agree that history has provided nothing interesting since the battle of Bévéziers/Pevensey.

                  Of course rosbifs are evil!

They and their progeny rule, not only the waves, but the world! And their perfidy will not end there. Heh heh.

Hahahaha! Fools! And you thought the waves would ever satisfy the great evil that lurks at the heart of the Empire of English!

The American Revolution was the single, greatest piece of propaganda to ever be conveyed to an unsuspecting world!

You thought, the lesser pulled away from the greater and then you rebels would have your chance, did you? Nay! I say! You simply bit hook, line, and sinker into the emporer's plans!

Horse eater! I can't believe you think the British should have let the Axis powers take the French navy in WWII.

On the other hand, given the showing of the French army in WWII, perhaps you may have a point...

As for the retreat from Dunkirk- you'd never had had the place if it weren't for Cromwell- and then it was sold to the Frogs by Charles II Stuart !

                      Zut alors.

The Austrian armed forces were frequently more in danger from their own inept commanders.

Napoleon had a higher opinion of the ordinary Habsburg forces than he did of their generals.
