  • Is there an archive format with built-in ECC?

I'm trying to transfer some files from an old computer to a new one, but the CD-ROM on the old computer is a bit jittery and keeps producing bad crc errors. When I unzip a file from the CD-R then most of the data are recovered, but there are always a few files missing.

Before anybody asks, the old computer does not have a (working) network card.

Why don't you just hook the HDD from the old computer to the new computer?

Yep, best solution. I don't bother doing mass transfers any other way, nowadays.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
