      Yeah, I wasn't specific on the means of why it's bad, but it is bad in general.

      • One of several U.S. soldiers who have come forward lately about the use of torture in Iraq. Chilling.

        • Our "buddies" the Saudis Tortured Innocent British and Canadian Citizens

          The story of William Sampson is heartbreaking. The man was abosolutley innocent, and the Saudis basically beat a confession out of him.

          "Highlights":

          * Suffered two heart attacks due to sleep depravation, one of them being 20 days straight

          * Had testicles beaten and stepped on

          * Was raped by interrogator

            • He was sentenced to death and kept in solitary confinement until, with the help of the British government, he was released in August, 2003.

              ...

              Sampson says with the brutal beatsin, the sexual assaults and the solitary confinement, he likely came close to going insane a few times early on in his incarceration. But at some point, his fear turned to intense anger at both his captors and at the Canadian government, which he insists did very little to help him.

              • I would imagine he would not be in favour of distancing us from Britain.

                I'm so mad, I could spit.

                If I had anymore spit to spare, I would spend it on the GoC that pays so little attention to the needs of actual Canadians while welcoming Kahdars with our passports of convenience.

                I spit on them. ****ers!

                      So let me get this straight:

                      Saddam tortures people: very bad, he's evil.
                      The U.S. tortures people: It's all for the good of our country.

                      Saddam uses WP against enemies: they're chemical weapons, he's very bad , he's evil.
                      The U.S. uses WP against enemies: they're not chemical weapons, there's no problem, it's all part of waging war.

                      And we wonder why our reputation around the world is in the toilet.

                      Wake up, folks: It's not about splitting legal hairs, it's about our image and ability to lead. Nobody will ever trust us again after this debacle.
                      **** trust. We're not asking for trust.

                      And whether WP can be employed in legal or prohibited means - it depends on how it is employed and who it is employed against.

                        The Saudis are pieces of ****, and one of the worst outfalls of the Iraq mess is that our ability (if Bush & company weren't so busy sucking their Cheneys) to pressure Saudi over support for terrorism and other strategic matters is diminished by the extent we have had so much of our military force tied up in Iraq.

                        • I agree and every reason listed for why Saddam was such a bad guy could easily have been applied to the Saudi regime. It's clear it's a sad relationship we have with them that is one of convenience and that's it. Period.

                          With the US/Canada/UK alliance there is generally a sense of benevolence among us, it's more than about just convenience, there is a strong spiritual tie there.

                          The Saudis only stay with us because we pay them alot of money for their oil and get their backs when sh1t hits the fan.

                            Try, Saddum uses WP as a wide-area incendiary weapon against civilians, against international law - he's bad and evil.
                            The US uses WP at best as a smokescreen and at worst as a (non-wide-area) incendiary weapon directed solely against military targets (in a setting where it would be difficult to hit civilians), not violating international law - there's no problem, it's all part of waging war.

                              Saddam shoots people: he's bad!
                              US shoots people: it's all part of waging war, there's no problem.
