  • Firefox isn't all that great, after all

It seems that many people are experiencing slowdowns with Firefox, which force them to start with a new profile every 3 months or so... A quick look in discussion boards shows that the problem is widespread.

I know at least two persons who don't use the Mac version of Firefox because of that... And in my experience, Safari is MUCH faster than Firefox.

Of course, I'd NEVER use IE, so that's why it's still on my PC... but on my Mac, bye bye Firefox.

      Mac

Apparently Firefox 1.5 (which I haven't tried) speeds things up on Macs a lot.

Oh, a fanboy. Macs happen to be just fine, if you won't let fundamentalism stand in the way.

The problem is not Firefox -- the problem is that you use a Mac.

There were a lot of problems with FF 1.0 for Mac. 1.0 wasn't originally intended to be released for Mac until 6 months after the Windows version, but that plan changed.

1.5 should offer a lot of fixes for you, and is due out any day now. There are just a lot more bugs to work out due to the crappier OS.

I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

I've noticed that when I've got Firefox running, it will every once in a while...I dunno, it causes my fans to start up, like its taking up more memory or something, I never really investigated. I'd quit Firefox and everything would go back to normal. I downloaded the newest version of Camino again, and I've been running that one 90% of the time now to test out the new release, although I can't tell that much of a difference between the two. The only reason I even bothered to use anything besides Safari was I prefer the Aqua theme to Brushed Metal, and Firefox has all those useful extensions. I've never had the problem mentioned in the OP, so I can't comment on that.

And I'm running Firefox 1.5 FtW

Never happened to me over the three or four years I've been using it.

Poor Windows. With friends like this, who needs enemies?
