        can think of loads of good covers/remixes of popular songs. great thread

        the strokes - genie in a bottle (original christina aguilera)
        placebo - 20th century boy (original t-rex)
        commercial breakup - bizarre love triangle (original new order)
        icon of coil - new york city boy (original pet shop boys)

        the trouser enthusiasts have done loads of great dance reworkings of pop songs, personal faves are saint etienne - lose that girl and howard jones - what is love

        great remixes/reworks

        brock landers - s.m.d.u. (rework of blur - song 2)
        madonna - what it feels like for a girl (above & beyond remix)
        aurora - sleeping satellite (super 8 remix) (original by tasmin archer)
        revelation - just be dub to me (revelation remix) (cover of sos band - just be good to me)

        not to mention the recent trend of bringing back 80s sounds into music...

                        This is easily the best version of that song ever. It's the same guy who made the Angel of Death cover in my first post. You have to check it out, it's awesome!

                            Hotel California is not the worst song ever. It's a great song. It's just hugely overplayed.
