robbing armoured trucks on the other hand, is very easy to get away with. The one woman in Las Vegas who stole (she was an employee driver which made it easier) only got caught because she turned herself in because she couldn't raise her kid properly in Amsterdam under a false name.

We've had other armored truck heists as well. Though many of the guys were caught, they only got caught because they robbed some casinos as well and were caught on casino tape.

Maybe she needed a quick way to pay off her phone bill.

Here's the mug shot and agent's affidavit accompanying the Complaint against the woman. Sounds like she was put up to it by her boyfriend, who drove the getaway car.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

According to the affidavit, she got 14K + for just one of the robberies so its not always the 1-3K people mentioned.

Its still a stupid move though. There are cameras everywhere and for sure if you rob a couple of banks your picture will be everywhere. I'd think that any smart thief would pick locations with a better risk reward.

Armored cars can be targetted sure, but here there are THREE armed guards in each one. I'd generally steer clear, although there was a successful robbery where a gunman got "the drop" on one guard.

I saw that movie. Problem is, the thief had to relive the same snowy day for years in order to get his timing down.
