I was going to include if your parents changed in the poll.. but 2x18 > 24

That is something that would be interesting for you to post, I think

also, include spiritualism type believes in unorganized religion... it is suppose to be a catchall... (if you don't think your believes fit.. please post)

I was brought practicing religious, I am still practicing religious... my parents are no longer

        but you didn't vote...

brought up is assumed to be what your parents are... that would be better determined if I had an additional part of whether your parents changed (it would seem likely that they might be bring soeone up in something they don't beleive in if they change...), but didn't have the poll space

My mother is against death penalty.
My father thought that murderers should be hung in the courthouse square, and it be televised on educational television.
When young, I leaned towards my mother's beliefs.
As I grew older, I agree with the views my father held.
I say this to show the disparity within a given religion.

You make it a little ambiguous, although you damn sure tried.
          Catholics are different than Protestants.
Methodists are different than Baptist, who are different than Southern Baptists.

I voted "Practicing Organized, you are practicing Organized" because it seemed the best fit.

          Good topic. Good question.

            Parents are protestant, I'm agnostic.

I'm a weak atheist. I think my mother might be a strong atheist, and I get a feeling my father might be a Deist of one form or another. They both grew up Catholic.

yeah.. there just aren't enough options

maybe I should make a quiz...

whether you consider methodist and baptist different enough is up to you.. or catholic and methodist different enough....

this would actually I think be a fairly common reason to change..

traditional christianity is not doing a very good job of taking care of homosexuals right now... which causes many to embrace atheism/agnosticism

i dont belong to any organized religion, Im a Conservative Jew

My parents belonged to a Reform synagogue. My father leaned more to secular Judaism (but hed have never called himself a secularist, largely out of his dislike of the political and cultural agendas of those who called themselves secularists)

Practicing, as regards to Judaism gets complicated, and most folks here arent interested in the details. I am more practicing than my parents, though, in many ways.

and things like deism into the unorganized...

Not sure what I'd vote. My parents belong(ed) to the United Church, and we used to go every week when I was little. I did the whole Sunday school thing for a while, but we stopped when I was still relatively young. My parents don't go anymore either, but I don't think their beliefs changed. I guess now you'd classify them as non-practicing Protestants, and I certainly wouldn't say they were ever overly religious people. And now, I'd call myself a weak atheist for reasons entirely unrelated to my parents and/or upbringing in general.
