Robertson alone isn't all that influential, he represents the crazy wing of the religious conservative movement. He gets more press than he is due because he says stupid crap (see above) that creates controversy.
    He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!

Robertson and his followers are a vocal minority. Most conservatives and religious folk I know consider him a buffoon.

And if you don't believe him, he'll put a jihad on you too.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," Robertson said on his daily television show broadcast from Virginia, "The 700 Club."

"And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there," he said.

What a magnificent, noble conception of god Robertson has- the equivalent of a failed, petulant spoiled local government member.

But really...can you imagine anyone who calls himself a man of God telling those in trouble not to turn to God for help?? Roberson needs to begin reading his Bible, and not just waving it in the faces of those with whom he disagrees.

Robertson has always been a hateful little man with a penchant for lashing out like this when things don't go his way.

I remember the year he claimed a meteor would strike Florida because Disneyworld hosted "Gay Day." Shortly thereafter, a hurricane smacked around Robertson's HQ in Virginia. Who needed the protection again?

It's limited to the far right of the Republican party. Unfortunately, because these people can get large numbers of the faithful out to vote in primaries they get a huge voice on how the over all Republican Party is run.

This is great! Robertson just said that if you vote against ID you're voting against God! None of this "ID" isn't creationism mumbo-jumbo now!
Yup, I caught that little added bonus

Good news, hopefully this will send a message to Kansas.
As Dino pointed out, Dover wont be teaching us anything.

These "ID" people sneak into office and then the general public wakes up and votes em out. [N/A in Mississippi and Alabama]

Actually, such a god would be kinda cool.
