  • Two quotes, one truth

“This is a sad day. We’re becoming a laughingstock of not only the nation, but of the world, and I hate that,” said board member Janet Waugh, a Kansas City Democrat.
“It will be marketed by the religious right ... as a huge victory for their side,” she said. “We can expect more efforts to get creationism in.”

-- Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

Another board member who voted in favor of the standards, John Bacon, said the move “gets rid of a lot of dogma that’s being taught in the classroom today.”

In addition, the board rewrote the definition of science, so that it is no longer limited to the search for natural explanations of phenomena.
So lacking a "natural explanation", can we just make stuff up?

I believe the world is riding on the back of a giant turtle. I demand this be taught in schools!

                    If I'm right:

What Kansas court said is the right to give all the scientific information of the Darwinian evolutions, . And the right to present "scientific" proof and cons about guided Evolutionism... They called it Creationism, but from i've seen, this is just evolution guided by "something"...

There are some good scientific that are believe in a "guided evolution". But like many of you, I think some teacher will teach garbage to some young.

Cronos, read the section about 'redefining "science"', it will shed some light what stands behind the 'right of teaching alternative evolutionary theories'.

And, yes, I think it's better that government 'enforces' things (to this date, Darvinism) a bit, otherwise teachers and other educational staff can do what they like with the programme.
I've expierenced it and it's especially annoying if you do not follow what teacher says - you get terrible marks for thinking differently.
