  • Overclocking Pentium M and Undervolt

I need information on something i've made yesterday.

    I have an Acer 1690.
    Intel Centrino 915 with a Pentium M 715(400mhz) with 512 DDR2 at 533Mhz.
Edit: Memory running at 400mhz, it have the possibility run at 533.

I undervolt my processor, 1.34v to 1.18v, this way it take less battery and run at lower temperature. (This is something everybody can do with Centrino Hardware Control).

Thinking about this, I was curious to see if I'm able to overclock my Pentium 715(1.5ghz) with my new vCore. So I rise my FSB(in software, so when i reboot, i return at normal) and now my computer is running at 1.75ghz, and it seems to be stables. I've run Aquamark and SuperPI with no blue screen.

I've seen on another forum a way to calculate the power and so the heat dissipated by the processor.

    Mhz x vCore^2/100 = Watts so
    My Old settings run at: 26.9watts (1.5ghz x 1.34^2/100)
    My new set: 1.75 x1.18v^2/100= 24.3 watts

So my computer is overclock, it runs with less power than before and he is cooler! I've keep a really good look on my temp monitor and he is constantly cooler than before even if he is overclock.

    So now i'm asking:

What i've done, is this correct or not? I dont have any degree in informatics. I know by reading on forums, by testing, and trying new things and be really conservative with my clocking experience.

And, do anyone have tried to overclock a Pentium M? (on a laptop or not) and if yes, to what speed you've been able to push it, do you undervolt, if yes, to what?

    Thank you,

Oh yeah I forget to tell:
Civ4 run really better than before.

The only problem could be unstability. lowering volts and raising frequence is not very good for it. Try Prime95. Its the best tool to test stability. However Pentium M are very overclockeable as far as i know.
Ich bin der Zorn Gottes. Wer sonst ist mit mir?

        It`s work pretty well!!

The CPU even succeed a Torture test at 1.8GHZ at 1.212v!!!

Ride'ON!!! What a overclockable beast is the Pentium M EVEN on a laptop, witout making more heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
