  • Meet my girlfriend Fred, love of my life

Americans are strange, it's not just the Texans. They seem to have their boys' & girls' names seriously mixed up. They regularly pick names for their defenseless daughters such as

    Terry
    Leslie/Lesley
    Toni
    Stevie
    Kim
    Rene/Renee
    Charly
    Carly
    Robin
    Sam
    Joey
    Lois

And find such manly names for unfortunate little boys as

    Sherri
    Shelley
    Shannon
    Marion
    Jaime

It's a travesty. Girls should be named Mary or Susan, boys John or Michael. Enough of this U.S. transgender naming baloney.

Agreed. Some have been appropriated entirely by theiving females, like 'Lindsay.'

I've never met any guy named Sherri or Shelley. If there are people in the US that use those as boys' names, then they are few and far between. It would be like naming a boy Mary or Sue.

To be fair, many of those names are short for other names -- e.g., Sam is short for Samantha.

And Stevie Nicks will rock your world, you Danish girlie man.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

              Toni
              Joni

Some of those daughters names are nickname versions .. Teri=Teresa/Kim=Kimberley/Sam=Samantha

Have never heard of the first to names being on a guy as far Jaime= James (depending on pronunciation)

Actually I did date a Freddie. Short for Frederica.

                  ...Or a girl Billie Jean?

Those examples were taken from memory, so not all of them may be entirely accurate.. The pattern is however, all too clear.

Yep, just checked it. Marion Mitchell Morrison.

                            See?

I still love John Wayne though. Not his fault.
