Gunfire erupted in mid-town Montreal on Monday morning, leaving a man in hospital after what appears to be a random shooting.
Nearly a dozen shots were fired on St. Laurent Boulevard near Guilbault around 3:15 a.m. this morning.
Witnesses said two men were walking down the street when one of them fired 10 shots into the sidewalk.
The bullets richocheted, and one hit a passerby in the arm.
The gunman and his friend fled.
A 30- year- old victim transported himself to hospital.
His life is not in danger.
Police are still looking for the gunman.

Police continue to hunt for a native man in connection with a serious assault on Halloween night.

It happened at around 9 p.m. in a home on Huntley Close N.E.

A 26-year-old woman opened the door to a man wearing a mask.

He forced his way into her home and stabbed her.

Police tell CTV Calgary she suffered lacerations, a puncture wound in her shoulder area and a collapsed lung.

A neighbour heard her screams and ran to help.

He scared off the attacker and also managed to rip off the man's mask and provide police with a description.

Police are looking for a native man, 18 - 25 years old, with brown, shoulder length, unkempt hair.

He's about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing dark pants, dirty white runners and a three quarter length dark coloured coat.

The mask he wore is distinctive and police are hoping it will jog someone's memory.

"If the mask looks familiar, if you lost the mask or discarded it, we'd like to know that if you know someone who purchased that mask we'd certainly like to know their identity," pleas Staff Sergeant Luch Berti of the Calgary Police Service.

Police urge anyone who sees the suspect to not approach him, but to call 911 immediately.

This was a very dangerous violent attack.

Police say the victim is still in hospital, but slowly improving.

The sad part is there was a way better troll.

said "trick or treat" flatly, then stabbed a young woman.

She was saved by her neighbor who came to her rescue and fought him off.
