Good thing this was voted down. An increased minimum wage would have increased unemployment over time.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I thought Adam Smith had sourced "that tripe" to solid academic literature on OT before.

Adam Smith didn't have to pay for gas, medical insurance, daycare... I seem to recall him living pretty well-off. But I guess he was a pauper too.

The Pauper and the Poster - The timeless tale of a down-trodden, 18th century Glasgow professor and some random dude on Teh Internets trading places for a day to see how the other lives. And they both just happen to be named Adam Smith. Hilarity ensues...

Honestly....I don't know why they had to raise it that high. I think people will agree it probably should rise, but it was going up nearly 20%. That's an insane raise.

It was just a circle-jerk. Everybody knew it wasn't going to pass, so the bigger the proposed raise the better for posing in front of the DRoseDARs and Ted Strikers of this world.

What's insane are the raises that wealthy politicians give to themselves while preaching about how bad it would be for our economy to give WORKING class a raise that they actually need.

...because it almost keeps up with all the inflation from 1997?
