Well the money is for reducing disparities between the old and new EEA members. So the money goes to the 10 new EU members, and because Poland is so big (and has more problems?) it gets the most money. Basically Norway was pressured into paying in order to keep the EEA treaty after the EU enlargement

Because of the EEA treaty Norway (along with Iceland and Liechtenstein) is pretty much an EU member already. A member with no influence on the decision making, that is. So I don't see why the EU would beg for Norway to join.

Yeah, it's like Last Conformist said, there's no begging but Norway could probably join whenever it feels like (unless France vetos it again like in '62). I don't think the EU really cares either way...Originally posted by VetLegion
